College Takes Part in Organizing 23rd China International Talent Exchange Conference Series

Recently, the 23rd China International Talent Exchange Conference, jointly organized by the Ministry of Human Resources and Social Security (State Administration of Foreign Experts Affairs) and the Shanghai Municipal People’s Government, was held at the Shanghai World Expo Center. The opening ceremony was attended by more than 2,600 foreign experts from over 110 countries and regions. The College of Computing and Artificial Intelligence and the College of Mathematics and Statistics jointly organized the Shanghai segment forum. Following the forum, the college further arranged a series of activities in Beijing, delivering an internationalized response characterized by "dual-city synergy and diverse highlights."

The forum was themed "Data Science and Statistics Driven by Artificial Intelligence: Opportunities and Challenges in the Digital Economy Era." Mao Xinshu, Member of the Standing Committee of the Party Committee and Vice President of the university, attended and delivered an opening speech. Academician Liu Jun from Tsinghua University gave the first keynote report titled "Deployment and Development of AI and Statistical Thinking," systematically explaining how statistical thinking permeates the entire lifecycle of AI. The college invited experts from the United Kingdom, Ireland, and Romania to participate in the forum exchanges. The activities focused on research hotspots and interdisciplinary collaboration in fields such as applied statistics and artificial intelligence, featuring academic presentations and lively discussions through various formats, including keynote speeches, roundtable forums,成果发布, and thematic exchanges. Vice Dean Tan Li, representatives from the Office of International Exchange and Cooperation and the College of Mathematics and Statistics, as well as faculty members Huang Yating and Liu Jiaming from the college, attended the event.

During the Beijing segment, Professor Zhang Jie delivered an academic report titled "Modeling and Optimization of Batch Processes by Machine Learning Technique." He engaged in face-to-face discussions with over 30 faculty members and students from the college’s computer science program, focusing on "AI + Industrial Process Management." The exchange sparked in-depth conversations on topics such as "Industrial Data Enhancement and Modeling Challenges in the Era of Large Models" and "How AI Can Truly Be Implemented." In the special report session, Professor Grigore Stamatescu gave presentations to students specializing in computing and control on the application and security issues of artificial intelligence technology in the industrial sector. Using specific scenarios such as energy and chemical engineering, he shared case studies with the students and analyzed safety and reliability challenges in the use of AI technologies. Vice Dean Tan Li participated in the entire event.

During the forum, our college reached preliminary intentions with Newcastle University (UK) and the University Politehnica of Buchast (Romania) for scientific research collaboration, academic exchanges, and joint laboratory development. Seizing the opportunity presented by this conference, the college will continue to deepen its international strategy of "AI-driven interdisciplinary integration," aiming to establish a high-level hub for talent aggregation and technological innovation.
